Who knew teriyaki sauce was so easy to make at home? Just a few basic ingredients and voila! … you might never buy the bottled stuff again.
(Serves 6)
INGREDIENTS
2 Tbls. (30 ml) cornstarch
2 Tbls. (30 ml) cold water
1 cup (240 ml) white sugar
1 cup (240 ml) Tamari (or soy) sauce
½ cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1 Tsp. (5 ml) minced or pressed ginger
½ Tsp. (3 ml) ground black pepper
pinch of salt to taste
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the cornstarch, cold water, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger and ground black pepper.
2. Let simmer, stirring frequently, until sauce thickens and bubbles.
